| Seaton Seaton is a coastal town in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty situated within Lyme Bay. Axminster Axminster is a quiet market town situated on the River Axe. It is close to both coastal towns and rural areas. The town is well known for Axminster Carpets, invented by Thomas Whitty. Axminster continues to show the history of the carpets to the public. The town boasts various individual businesses and is continuing to grow. A mainline station includes services to London Waterloo and Exeter. An open street market is held every Thursday. |
| Colyton From early occupation by Bronze Age tribes, through Roman times to the present day, Colyton's fine river valley has provided a perfect place to settle. The shops are traditional, unique, and independently owned --this is no boring high street. Colyton itself has a wonderful level riverside walk in two directions. Spot heron, buzzard, egrets, mallards, and if you are really quick, a kingfisher. With over 1,000 years of history, the unusual octagonal lantern tower of St. Andrew’s dates back to the 15th century. A church has stood on this site since Saxon times and restored cross of that period is within the building. |

Chard Chard is a lovely market town in the county of Somerset, England, situated on the main A30 road close to the Devon border and 15 miles south west of Yeovil. In 1685 Chard was one of the towns in which Judge Jeffreys held some of the Bloody Assizes after the failure of the Monmouth Rebellion. Chard claims to be the birthplace of aviation, as it was here in 1848 that the Victorian aeronautical pioneer John Stringfellow (1799-1883) first demonstrated that engine-powered flight was possible. Chard nestles in a corner of South Somerset between Dorset and Devon. The town is surrounded by beautiful countryside and has a wealth of lovely places to visit for all the family. From traditional home cooked pub lunches to delicious cream teas, there are many local gastronomic experiences to try. The surrounding area is renowned for apple orchards and cider. Hundreds of tonnes of apples are pressed every year by local producers such as Perrys, at Dowlish Wake, Bridge Farm and Burrow Hill. The South Somerset Food Festival, held every October, promises a delicious programme of events, activities and tasting sessions to suit every appetite. |
